The "Kite Lamp" is a sculptural mood light that can be used as a table light as well as a floor light. This lamp is completely handmade from its frame to its facade. The frame is made in powder coated metal, that is hand bent by local blacksmiths. The facade is created by traditional Leather Puppet Artisans from Kerala. It has been our effort to reinterpret their traditional style of painting, their colour palettes and the use of their traditional hand punched motifs on leather, to create a abstract painting of a 3 dimensional kite. This painting becomes the surface facade of this lamp and shows a fine example of amalgamating traditional craft with contemporary abstractions. |
